Yard swing, days gone by
Time to set a while, talk slow
Linger in the shade.
Art Prescription: Iconic scene. A century old farm house. An outside setting with a swing for getting together in the yard.
Her or His story
Glory moments left unheard
Unless we listen.
Art Prescription: At work at my nursing job today I was thinking about the patient’s need to tell his or her story. Too bad in the computerized, fast, electronic world of taking care of humans, the time to sit and truly listen to your patient’s story is being lost. Good health care providers realize that this is what “care,” “health-care,” is all about. Standing tall on my soap box!!!
Freshly washed by rain
Nothing compares, sweet basil
For corn succotash.
Art Prescription: The scent of basil after a good summer rain is intoxicating. So I brought some inside to add to my fresh corn off-the-cob and tomato succotash.
Part of my mission for the Art Prescription is to encourage others to create. Keep an art journal, paint, or sketch. I’m developing some materials you can use in your next mix-media project available in my shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/beverlydyer?ref=l2-shopheader-name
Shelter from the storm
A brown card-board box offered
To a stray black cat.
Art Prescription: While I’m working and preparing to roll out my ideas for collage ephemera on Etsy, painting and cutting, and taking pictures, etc. Blackie, the local stray, occupies my mind. I’m feeding him and giving him some de-worm medicine. He sits cautiously at least 3 feet away. Meanwhile, I’m excited to offer some hand-painted collage pieces for art journaling and mixed media!
Mid-July humid
Morning walk, cicadas whirl
Sweat tickles my back.
Art Prescription: The joys of summer are vast. Morning walks are one of them. A brisk gate before the sun beams down with her stinging rays.
I’m working on an Art Prescription Kit with assorted collage papers and instructions for some art journaling pages!
