Cantering on a horse April 2, 2104

The thrill of the ride

A sweet gentle rocking horse

Canter in the ring.

Art Prescription:  After practicing my posting trot on my bike, no less, I got to put homework into action today on Pinto Bean. Still a little rough around the edges, but I’m making progress. We ended our session with a canter and Pinto proved to have a sweet and gentle pace.

Before we ride it’s fun and interesting to look at herd behavior. Never a dull moment,  here is Iloa dunking her whole head into the water. Horse-play. Charlie is looking at her with curiousity. “What on earth are you doing?”

Lost Lamb March 30, 2014

The lamb must be lost

Tiny wild blue hyacinths

Charm the lion’s roar.

Art Prescription:  Hiked Merritt’s Pasteur today, a walk along a river that loops up and over a meadow. Saw lots of wildflowers and goldfinches. Still wearing my winter coat and gloves! The wind bites.

Horse Grooming March 26, 2014

Winter mud blanket

A box of brushes leads to

A sweet posting trot!

Art Prescription:  Pulling into the farm I thought, is that Doc? Yep, that’s Doc! The dirtiest horse in the paddock. And I loved grooming him and connecting with him before a ride. This time of touch and getting totally in these beings space before you ask them to wear aDoc dirty saddle and hold you on their back, is prescious.

We are what we think March 25, 2014

Expect clouds, get rain

How you spend your day, your life

Adds up, the raw truth.

Art Prescription:  Science is learning about our brain’s ability to adapt and rewire. This phenomenon, known as neuroplasticity, suggests there are concrete and provable benefits to exercising the brain. Doing art exercises the brain. Positive thinking exercises the brain.

“How you spend your days, is how you spend your life.”   Think about it!!
