Warm scented March breeze

Dogwoods shimmer white in sun

Late day bird chorus.

Art Prescription:  My late afternoon walks may be my favorite part of my day. There is so much happening outside. It’s like nature is on fast-forward. Dogwood flowers dot the woods, and most people think the white “petals” are the flowers. Actually the white parts are the sepals, and the actual flowers are the tiny yellow parts in the middle. If you have dogwoods go look closely at a bloom.

Sandy garden path

Yellow glow and purple phlox

Cool, refreshing walk!

Art Prescription: I went to a Haiku in the Garden workshop today at the North Carolina Botanical Garden. So much to learn about this little poem called “haiku.” As with everything, simpler is better, and to get down to the bare essentials of our senses is art. Practice…practice…practice…

I’m cosmocentric

Seeking joy in the moment

Enlightened by now.

Art Prescription: Full day switching hats, nurse, artist, cat-mom, card-packaging-staff. Getting off some orders for stationery. When days are so busy it’s easy to get caught in the just-get-it-done attitude, versus the look-at-the-beauty-all-around attitude. We only have the now, seek the joy!

Consider yellow

A fog of purpose which coats

Vendor of pure sex!

Art Prescription: Here in NC we are waking to mornings of yellow pollen coating on everything! Nature is the biggest flirt ever, intoxicating the bees. Each day spring is expanding her reach.  Are you living true to your purpose? Are you? Express it with creativity!

There she is with her

Fleecy early golden glow

Her beauty turns heads.

Art Prescription:  Okay, so I’m talking simultaneously about the bright yellow branches of forsythia, and the blond walking into the grocery store in March in her shorts and backless blouse! Both beautiful! Which is why the birds and the bees are timeless. Poor married men, like my husband, have to find a way to look without the wife noticing! Find humor in your everyday life!!!

Birds sing and bees buzz

Today, the first day of spring

Each day brings more pop!

Art Prescription: All around us now here in NC spring has sprung. Today is officially the first day of spring. I think the birds and bees got wind of it happening a little bit sooner. What do you notice this time of year where you live? I’d love to know.

Wildflowers galore

Wind-flower, Violets, Phlox,

White butterflies flash.

Art Prescription: We rode bikes over to the North Carolina Botanical Gardens. What a joy to have this in “our backyard.” The wildflowers carpet the floor of the garden. There is something to see in every square inch of the ground. You must go visit the woods near a stream to see what lies beneath your feet!

Blue winged gem perches

Brilliant against brown-grey

About to burst woods.

Art Prescription: Walked at Mason Farm this afternoon. The ground is covered with wildflowers, and the trees with song birds. The Eastern Bluebird stands out like a jewel against a late winter back-drop. Their color is spectacular. Try and mix it on your palette.
