Daily challenges!

Art Prescription:  So ICAD 2016 starts tomorrow. Most days through June and July I will be working from prompts from Daisy Yellow http://daisyyellowart.com/vividlife/icad-2016-prompts-week-1

I did this last year and it’s such a fun way to create everyday. As you all know I create on index cards all through the year. They lend themselves to all kinds of media.

ICAD 2016 Cover Card:

Rain May 29, 2016

Rain bounces and drips

Puddles form, run-off races

Garden drinks it in!

Art Prescription:  Hurricane season here in the Carolinas often brings welcome rain. A good excuse to cuddle up with someone you love, or multiple someone’s you love…family nap.

Perfect Mate May 28, 2016

What if I’m enough?

Messy dreamer, artist-like

And loves so deeply.

Art Prescription:  Seems the whole universe has advise on how to maintain a happy relationship. In fact it’s a national past-time with loads of magazine and radio articles devoted to this issue. Just look at the tabloids as you check out at grocery store.

What if the person we love, loves us back just because! Because we are the one person in the universe that makes them happy. And that is just enough!!

In the Moment May 27, 2016

Off into the mist

Of green grass, afternoon sun

Finn in element.

Art Prescription:  Not much is prettier or more peaceful than watching a herd of horses let out onto a grassy pasture. Rode Finn bare-back…Friday ritual..and put conditioner in his tail and mane. Sublime.

Butterfly Delight May 24, 2016

In the cool spring mud

A Mourning Cloak Butterfly

Feeds on minerals.

Art Prescription:  For those of you who follow my blog you will remember the gem I found while walking at Mason Farm. It’s a Mourning Cloak Butterfly. They use their probiscus to feed on the minerals found in mud. This is why you often see a bunch of butterflies on a puddle.

Morning Dove May 22, 2016

Flimsy assembly

Pine needles, twigs, and grass stems

Weaves into a nest.

Art Prescription:  So I’ve been worried about “my” Morning Dove nest. It seems so simple and not very well put together. Then I read that this is common, it’s just the way they build a nest. Nature knows best.
