Pull, weed, dig, and sweat
No glamorous white gloves here
New flowers, worth it!
Art Prescription: So my bee balm has run its course. I made space for a new flower garden that will delight me until fall.

Running down a dream
You know perfect bliss right then
Some least expected.
Art Prescription: Sometimes what we are searching for is delivered to us without asking.
Index card with collage, pen and ink, and colored pencil:

In this moment, now
I feel peace, content, and safe
A mantra for all.
Index card:

Doors beckon us in
Whether real or in our minds
What’s on other side?
Art Prescription: Is there a lock? Are we afraid? Are we brave? Are we curious? Do we want change? Well…
Index card with watercolor:

The power of choice
To live without the reruns
Move forward in joy!
Art Prescription: Every day we are offered choices on how we want to live our days…and how we live our days is how we live our lives. One day at a time I choose to move forward in joy! Wanna come?
Index card with watercolor:

A July heat wave
No amount of sweet iced-tea
Cools rumpled feathers!
Art Prescription: Does everyone’s feathers seem rumpled? Or is it just HAWT out there?
Index card with watercolor and pen and ink:

From red kayak bow
The lake stretches out deep blue
Big clouds float above.
Art Prescription: Just me and my first mate went “boating” today…kayaking. It was so fun and beautiful and peaceful. Nothing but us, blue skies, and a lake that went on forever. Bliss!
Index card with watercolor:

Surest way to hear
The soft strains of harmony
Is in the silence.
Art Prescription: My way to refuel from life’s demands is to go sit in a field with horses in pure silence. I listen to birds, cicadas, squirrels foraging, the horses snorting and chomping on grass. And in that big expanse, I realize how precious life is, how important it is to feed your soul. Everyone is different. For me quiet gifts fill me up, and I’m am so grateful for the simple.
Index card with watercolor:

Alone in the field
I feel small and listen for
Wisdom of horses.
Art Prescription: “Take it to the horses,” she said. Take it to the horses, and take a shower, and then think about life. Thank you Deborah!
I spent a couple of hours sketching en plein air today. Ink on index cards:

A cloud over-head
Certain it’s going to rain
Perhaps it will pass.
Art Prescription: Some people walk around their whole lives with a cloud over their head and wonder why it rains all the time. We are what we think, eat, live. Each day adds up and suddenly this is how we have lived our lives.
