Lotus, sun symbol

Marks the beginning and end

Purification.

Art Prescription:  Perhaps our forebears were very smart. Do we pay attention to when we need to cleanse? End something, and begin anew?

Sweet Chickadee April 24, 2017

In the pouring rain

We fluff our wet, cold, feathers

And continue work.

Art Prescription:  Yes I’m obsessed with my chickadees. And my new illustrated book!! Thoughts of a Golden Fox!

I’m very excited to introduce my latest illustration work, “Thoughts of a Golden Fox.”

Thoughts of a Golden Fox, written by Charles David Rushbrook and illustrated by Beverly Dyer, is a delightful book for children, ages 6-11. The story is told from the viewpoint of a mother Golden Fox, which, according to the book’s short and gentle-hearted Glossary, is “…a magical, and rarely seen, species of fox with unbelievably beautiful golden coats!

Feather and Egg April 23, 2017

The box is singing

Fledglings are making some noise

Do the parents sleep?

Art Prescription:  Mother Nature’s tenacity is amazing. Every minute or so I see one of the chickadee parents leave the box to go grocery shopping. The box gets quiet. And as soon as one of the parents flies in, there is a lot of sweet high-note chirping going on.

Transplanted April 19, 2017

Transplanted iris

Sinks her roots into the soil

A royal blossom.

Art Prescription:  We all need a sense of belonging. To belong is our nature. How can we each enhance a sense of belonging for all beings? Like taking care of our neighbors, and taking care of our earth.

Wild Lily April 17, 2017

White glow in meadow

Lilies among tall grasses

Wild Easter Lily.

Art Prescription:  I’ve been seeing these beautiful lilies in the woods and meadows at Mason Farm. They are Atamasco Lily (Zephranthes atamasco) and they flourish in wetlands.
