Warm Bed March 18, 2017

Cold rainy morning

Warm blankets and cats call me

Back into my bed.

Art Prescription:  Saturday morning. No place in particular to be. It’s cloudy and rainy and cold…brrrr. Warm cats, warm bed, is this really a decision?

Using my collage paper with the 1903 ledger and flowers,  I then sewed my index card sketches onto the paper. Fun!!!

Now and Then March 15, 2017

Something old and new

Years of age and a fresh bloom

Each tells a story.

Art Prescription:  Another piece using a 1903 ledger from Carrboro, North Carolina. These dusty pages tell a story. So I picked a few of my freshly bloomed flowers…and here is the conversation…

Hand-Made Journal Page March 14, 2017

A vintage ledger

A glimpse of nineteen hundred

Hand-written account.

Art Prescription:  So I was gifted this 1903 ledger, a store from Carrboro, North Carolina. Flipping through the pages gives me the chills as I realize how far we’ve come, and what we have lost. Lost are hand-written records with beautiful penmanship, lost are solid articles you can hold and feel, lost are things packed away for finding later. Digital means it’s all somewhere.

Poise March 7, 2017

And always have poise

Calmness, serenity, grace

Choose to rise above.

Art Prescription:  Each day life offers us many choices. I’ve often heard it’s not the situation, but how you cope that makes a difference.

Letting Go March 6, 2017

What makes you happy?

Can you clear your mind for this?

What can you let go?

Art Prescription:  I think it’s human nature to hold onto things…material things, dreams, your past. But, what would your days look like if you simply let go of all that data running around in your head, and just simply focused on what you a good at, what makes you happy.

Index card with watercolor and my chop that says, “hope.”
