September sunset
Trees salute summer, goodbye
Forest begins rest.
Art Prescription: Still hot. Signs of fall all around. A leaf here and there floats to ground.

Acrylic Sunset Tree:

I set out to do a couple of cacti drawings with watercolor pencil. The first layer is just form. Trying to get the drawing accurate.

Next I layered in some shadows:

I painted the pots with watercolor. And then added some pen and ink detail.

Meet me at the fence
Nose to nose we say hello
Gently we accept.
Art Prescription: we must work to accept the others across the fence.

The cost of one thing
Something precious like time
Or living itself.
Art Prescription: Where have all the butterflies gone?
Watercolor and ink: my chop says “hope.”

My art journal is always a place to “say” what’s on my mind with color and form.
Long lively day taking care of horses and my yard. Both bring me great satisfaction.
On this page I used a quote, free formed stamping, irises in watercolor, butterflies cut from mulberry paper.
Finished with my chop that says “hope.”

Early morning shade
Gives way to September light
The days get shorter.
Art Prescription: working on an idea for a big painting.

To get your horse straight
Sometimes you need to circle
And circle again.
Art Prescription: I had a tough horse lesson with Cowboy Jim today.
As with all of life, most of the time we need to stick with the basics, ask softer (whether a horse or human), deliver a consistent message, build trust, gain respect, and say Thank You often!
Thank You Cowboy Jim!

Birds of a feather
Flock together and migrate
Rhythm of nature.
Art Prescription: It’s a good time of year to see migrating warblers.
Abstract feathers with watercolor:

A country bouquet
Gathered right out-side your door
Tall meadow grasses.
Art Prescription: With a piece of grass in my teeth… guess y’all figured I’m a country girl.
These little wildflower bouquets make me happy to paint. And I found some really cute distressed frames to set them off.
