Small Town December 1, 2015

Banks, fast food, churches
Small town life America
Flight three nine o nine.

Art prescription: We can never walk in someone else’s shoes. We have to love people where they are and respect their thoughts. I do know life shapes us dramatically. I also believe with all my heart that if we don’t choose love and joy over anger and sadness, we are doomed a life of dark days. Flight 3909 fly me high!!!!!

Happiness Is November 30, 2015

Happiness is choice
Gratitude is a workout
For your brain on joy.

Art prescription: Do you know happy people? What do they spend their time doing? Chances are they watch little television, especially the horrific news, and probably spend a lot of time doing for others.

For Caleb November 28, 2015

You left us too soon

To continue on your way

Your mother’s sunshine.

Art Prescription:  Dear friends I’d like to dedicate this writing to Caleb Marshall Woodlief. My best friend lost her dear son and his funeral was today. A bright light in our world, he blessed his family and friends for 22 years.

We all feel the sadness of the inexplicable, the unfair, and undeniable loss that we humans must bear. We cannot make sense of it. Some mysteries are beyond our comprehension. This is where faith, whatever faith means to you, becomes the simple affirmation of getting through one day at a time.

Caleb you were cherished by your family. I remember the day your mother called me to tell me you were on your way. The world was here waiting for your arrival.

Friends and family gathered today to bid you farewell and to send you off with love on your soul’s journey.

Dame Julian of Norwich, a thirteenth-centurey English mystic, wrote this prayer to comfort those who are dealing with enormous human emotion.

All shall be well,

And all shall be well,

And all manner of things shall be well.

In loving memory of Caleb Marshall Woodlief.

Grateful November 25, 2015

Keep to the right side

Some times pavement is unmarked

The full moon does rise.

Art Prescription:  There are many times in our lives where the pavement is unmarked. We don’t know which way to turn, which way is right, what our souls need to move on. The natural world reassures us each day and night. The sun rises. The moon rises. And both shine the light of goodness onto our unmarked paths. I hope each of  you finds many things to be grateful for on your unmarked path.

White Tail November 23, 2015

I see you…see me

And freeze with my ears straight up!

Next…you see white tail!

Art Prescription:  Finn had a check-up today with the vet. He had his sheath cleaned (horse people will understand this), and had his teeth “floated.” All in all a good bill of health. Thank you Dr. Maxwell!!

As I was leaving the farm I saw a pretty little deer in the pasture. For two seconds we met eyes…and then she bolted into the woods leaving an image of her bright-white tail in my view.

Low Gear November 22, 2015

Party is over

Time to shift gears, lower speed

To give thanks for all.

Art Prescription:  My Open Studio weekend is over. Was fun and successful. I’m very thankful. Now I hope to down-shift a bit and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with family (I might sneak out to the farm to see Finn everyday).
