Crepe Myrtles August 10, 2014
Heavy with blossoms
Crepe Myrtle branches bow low
Reddish-purple plumes.
Art Prescription: Interesting how nature bends under extra weight, but does not often break. Sort of ZEN. We too could learn to gently bend when life gets a bit heavy, yielding softly, staying supple and conserving our energies for more good! Wouldn’t this make a great watercolor!
Poetics August 9, 2014
To swim, poetic
Pause to take a deep breath, stroke
Rhythm, flow, water.
Art Prescription: Was thinking today as I was swimming how poetry and swimming are similar. There is a cadence to my stroke, a rhythm as I kick my feet, a pause as I turn my head to breathe. For me this is a moving meditation. Colored pencil and pen and ink 3 x 5 index card.

Nostalgic Smells August 5, 2014
Rummage in her bag
Smell of my grandmother’s purse
Coins for machine, gum.
Art Prescription: I bet in one sniff you remember the smell of your grandparent’s homes. The part of our brain that registers smells, olfactory, is very connected to our emotions.
Having fun with vintage patterns and maps in my art journal. https://www.etsy.com/listing/198878012/vintage-patterns-3-map-butterflies-for?
Orange and Blue August 4, 2014
Opposites attract
Blue and orange, vibration
Up-cycle a bird.
Art Prescription: True to my own medicine I used art to get through my day. My three kitty-cats went to have dental today. Two of them had extractions….ugh. I worked with paper and did another bird to pass away the time and keep my mind from worrying.
