Farmer’s market stars
A bucket of zinnias
Steal the summer show!
Art Prescription: Went to a “refrigerator pickling” demo today at the local farmer’s market. Good things to come from that!! And the zinnias stole my eye!
Loneliness is not
Being only flower bud
But failure to bloom.
Art Prescription: The garden is ripe with buds and blooms and it occurs to me that to make a garden whole it takes many elements. The rain, the sun, the soil, birds, bees, and the instinctual element of life growing on despite any adversary. A tree fallen by a storm, will only grow upward with new branches. We humans get so attached to this one short life we live. If you relish in nature’s messages, you will be at peace with the whole. Four winds, Bev
Sun spiragira
Intricate patterns emerge
Rings of rays blossom,
Art Prescription: Did you know the “petals” of the sunflower are not true petals? The true flowers are the tiny rays that form the amazing spiral design on the head of a sunflower and many other “ray” flowers. Here’s another watercolor pencil sketch, finished with a quick big brush of water.
Between the thunder
Sweet satisfaction of sun
Round raindrops glisten.
Art Prescription: Here in NC we’ve had a deluge of storms. Seems for days thunder has been rumbling. So when the sun came out today, I rushed off to the pool to get some laps in!! Satisfaction comes in many forms, and I’m super excited to announce the launch of my new checks, checkbooks, and address labels!! http://new.checkadvantage.com/beverly-dyer-bio
She pecks at mosses
Beak full she pauses, waits for
His wings to say fly!
Art Prescription: Watching a pair of purple finches in my backyard…delightful. Clearly team work as she gathers materials for a nest, he stands watch to see that the coast is clear. A slight jiggle of wings is cue for them to fly off together for their destination.
