Haiku June 11, 2013 Tweedle

Tweets, chirps, caws, tweedles.

Fresh out of nest, kids holler

Shake and flap for food!

Art Prescription:  Seems everywhere I look I see a youngster begging for food. Diligently, the parents feed and teach, here’s how you dig for yourself.

Haiku June 10, 2013 Wedding Season

June, wedding season

Months of planning, bride’s surprise

And so it begins!

Art Prescription:  And hopefully for a long married life! Planning and orchestrating a wedding is a big deal. A fun, happy, albeit stressful occasion, for the biggest celebration of your life. Here’s my latest wedding invite design.

Haiku June 8, 2013 Magnolia

Grand magnolias

Scent historical gardens

Century old trees.

Art Prescription:  We rode our bikes to a historic property that has been transformed into a school of business here at UNC. The property has an air of elegance, and I love how they turned the old horse stables and pool into a modern day retreat. The formal gated garden contains the graves of the late, late owners…serene.

Haiku June 5, 2013

Seconds tick on clock

I sway to the time, rocking

Black cat in my arms!

Art Prescription:  We have three cats!! Each one has a very distinct personality and my days are filled with cat antics. Matisse, my big furry black cat, I think he has some Siamese traits, likes being held. He melts into my arms and will lay wilted with love until, with protest, I set him down.

Haiku June 4, 2013 Layers of Life

The spiral of life

Layers of experience

Forms the whole one you!

Art Prescription:  Our experiences and genetics make up who we are and how we perceive the world around us. Relationships and communication are much more complicated than we think. Best we can do is to try and love each other through it all…

Haiku June 3, 2013 Storm Front

Dark storm front sweeps in

Meadow moves, chaotic waves

June rain soaks garden.

Art Prescription: Watching a rolling storm front move in is miraculous. Clouds constantly changing, wind picks up, temperature drops. The smell of rain coming…quick…go inside! Downpour.

Haiku June 2, 2013 Fledglings

Momma Mockingbird

Hunts, swoops, digs, catches fresh chow

Fledglings shrill in bush!

Art Prescription:  The amount of fledgling raucous going on right now points to the constant job of parenting. I recognize the shrill cries of different species waiting in hiding for their next treat. Until they know how to forage on their own, baby birds are nurtured along by both parents.
