High above cactus
Ravens call and lizards slip
Across craggy rocks.
Art Prescription: I added more to my southwest scene. Is she done?

Spring, you are a tease
Thirty-three degrees, really
Had to get my coat.
Art Prescription: And had to get my hat! Brrrrrr…
Birds carry on and blooms, bloom.
For some reason I started this loose illusion of a desert.

Having a bit of fun with paint swatches. Here I’ve mixed color for another project on an index card:

Quite playfully I started imagining cats in the shapes.

In expanse of browns
Bright green young leaves glow in the
End of a March sun.

Watercolor on index card:

Howdy! Hope you are having a nice Saturday.
I really liked the recent watercolor I did of birch trees, so I decided today to start a similar painting with acrylic.
I’m a watercolorist at heart, and sometimes like to branch out.
Here’s my background and sketch with paint. Many layers to go… hope you will follow along.

Wilted in the rain
The bud gave up hope for sun
Until a March day!
Art Prescription: What if nature gave up in the bleak of winter?
Oh the power of hope and joy!!
Get busy living! Get out in the sun!
Watercolor sketch on a green index card:

Solace in the woods
Time fades as you gaze into
Life all around now.
Art Prescription: Woods sketching ephemeral wildflowers!
Pen and ink and watercolor wash:

Six by thirty-two
A tall order of birch trees
For lodge decorum.
Art Prescription: This was fun to paint! An unusual size forced me to consider composition and scale.

Rise up beside fence
Purple Nettle, field pansies
Color the pasture.
Art Prescription: How did I ever see these as weeds? They are magnificent!
