Winter Blues

Weather forecast, snow

Cold, cloudy, grey, bare branches

And I love it all!

Art Prescription: So I headed out to the horses this morning like the Pillsbury Dough Boy, bundled in many layers to stay warm. 22 degrees. People up north think that’s a heat wave!

The sun was bright, and I do love the trees in winter.

Watercolor:

Winter Buttercups

Meadow buttercups

Rise up around wooden fence

Sturdy in winter.

Art Prescription: So far its been a mild, but excessively rainy winter. Buttercups and purple nettle are in bloom.

Index card with mixed-media:

Sunshine

Even in winter

The signs of spring and promise

Bright, blinking, sunshine.

Art Prescription: I can totally see how people became depressed and anxious when the sun disappeared for days. We humans need the sun and Vitamin D. Without the sun, plants become limp, tired, and leggy…so do humans.

After a day spent flying, I was thrilled to get home and take a nice walk in fresh air.

Shoes: Photo Haiku

Wallflower’s remains

Shoes that never danced, still-life

Mostly worn to church.

Art Prescription: Always seek to see where people come from. Life is complicated, minds are formed by so many factors.

Practicing loving kindness and acceptance.

Work in Progress

I did the sketch first to send to client for approval. Today I mixed colors and started laying in the lights.

Because watercolor works from light to dark, versus acrylic and oils, I’m trying to preserve the highlights.

I’ve got quite a long ways to go…so satisfying to take my time!
