Morgan Creek May 4, 2018

Along Morgan Creek

Under deep spring foliage

A heron fishes.

Art Prescription: Took a lovely walk on the North Carolina Botanical Garden trails this afternoon. The forest canopy is thick now, hard to find singing birds. And with this warm weather the snakes are out. Saw three black beauties. Okay so we can do without the surprise factor, but sleek just the same.

Down at the creek a blue heron strutted along the shallow water.

Brave Girl May 1, 2018

Brave Girl you must fight

I need you! The world needs you!

The horses need you!

Art Prescription: my very best friend is not well. I need her to know how very much she is loved and needed…sending this into the universe.

Backyard Sketching April 30, 2018

Old fashion lilac

Delicate pale purple blooms

Scents the whole backyard.

Art Prescription: What a majestic day to be outside! My garden is filling in, so I spent some time out with my nature Journal.

I sketched with colored pencil:

And then I brushed over my drawings hoping I layered the right colors to blend on the page:

Bynum Bridge April 28, 2018

A birdy field trip

To Bynum Bridge in N.C.

Northern Parula.

Art Prescription: Days I live for! Spring in North Carolina which means wildflowers and migrating birds!

We drove out to a small town nearby, Bynum, where an old bridge is now just for pedestrians and bikers.

Here among the tree tops over the Haw River we saw a plethora of spring warblers.

A Hooded Warbler was a hightlight.

The Northern Parula stole the show.

Practice April 25, 2018

Rain pours hard, tin roof

Horses stand still, heads lowered

Class…equine massage.

Art Prescription: A morning thunder-shower turned our ride into a class on equine massage. How relaxing to get a massage while rain hits a tin roof? Lucky horses.

Still painting hummers. Repeating a painting is good practice.
