The stray/feral kittens are doing well. My neighbor’s daughters are home from collage for the holidays, so they are being highly “socialized.” My vet will take them and give them a good check-up and find them a forever home. Shout out to Park Vet!

Balance is the key
Stand on one leg, close your eyes
Now what do you see?
Art Prescription: Appropriate meditation on this winter solstice day. How do you balance life? The holidays get many of us off kilter with too many demands and expectations. Stay centered with good boundaries, don’t pick up anyone else’s baggage, know when to take a break to get quiet time.

Two different moods
One spring, light, other winter
Both speak to my soul.
Art Prescription: Color is amazing. Here I’ve painted two similar compositions, but with a completely different palette. Feel the mood change? I will let these dry and add detail.

Soft hands with a horse
Soft blue-grays, winter landscape
Soft mood, soft response.
Art Prescription: loose watercolor

Caught in metal cage
Meowing in the dark now
Last of the kittens.
Art Prescription: I caught the final kitten tonight! Reunited with it’s sibling, its resting comfortably.
I’ll get back to art at some point.

Kitten in my lap
Finally getting some purrs
White spots on belly.
Art Prescription: Kitten two is settling in. Likes belly pets. Purring. And my mom’s dog Diva is here.

Bags with candles, lit
Neighborhood glows with warm light
Silent night, peaceful.
Art Prescription: once a year our neighborhood comes together to light candles on the street. It’s so beautiful, and a celebration of all winter holidays. Everyone is included, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to meet and talk with your neighbor.

Last light of the day
Temperature drops quickly
Deer graze in the field.
Art Prescription: I did evening chores at the farm. Lots of hay put out to keep the horses warm on a chilly night. Earlier today, I worked on some projects for my agent. Color trends for spring. Here is a work in progress:

Snow drifts among trees
Branches weep with the white weight
It’s a silent night.
Art Prescription: Trying different techniques:

Dried flowers on stem
Hint, original color
Calm winter neutrals.
Art Prescription: It was 22 degrees when I got to the farm this morning. Finn was happily eating hay, which is how horses keep warm in low temperatures. I had lots of layers and was comfortable, enjoying the bright winter sun. Later at home, I went for my usual walk and picked up a few beautiful things.
