Asters September 9, 2017

Aster family

Takes center stage in the fall

Wildflowers galore.

Art Prescription:  We hiked our usual haunt Mason Farm looking for migrating warblers. High in the canopy, they evaded us. We did admire the meadows full of wildflowers. Then I went to sketch at the North Carolina Botanical Garden.

Hurricane September 7, 2017

The Atlantic churns

America together

We love thy neighbor.

Art Prescription:  Instead of the differences that have been in the news in the last months, lately I’ve seen Americans coming together to help one-another. People from all backgrounds pulling together, working as teams, spreading love.

This is the country I’m proud of.

Here in North Carolina we are in danger of being in the path of Irma. Be well my neighbor.

Self-Expression September 5, 2017

When I try to paint

Like someone other than me

I can do NO ART.

Art Prescription:  Where does art come from? Sure in this digital, linked-in, social-media full world we are inundated by other’s work. And that’s not all bad. I do enjoy a nice Instagram surf with my morning coffee. But then I must go to my studio alone. I must face the blank paper.

It’s brave to go at it alone.

It’s brave to listen to and express your own voice.

Negative Space August 31, 2017

It’s what is not there

That fills the space, energy

The body knows truth.

Art Prescription:  I believe we humans truly have no idea how much we communicate with our bodies. The more time I spend with horses, the more I’m trying to hone in to this medicine.
