Cute June 5, 2017

Hopped the nest too soon

Quiet as a mouse until

My mom comes with worm.

Art Prescription:  We found a wee robin in our yard, not ready to fly. The nest was too high to return him, so we placed him in a basket and tied it in the tree. The parents found him quickly and resumed feeding. Yay. Then when I returned home later the basket was empty. Dang, I thought, hawk.

Heading out for my evening walk I saw the parents across the street in my neighbor’s yard. And guess what? There was the baby.

My friend who is a bird expert, said fledging does not necessarily mean they are ready to fly, but just ready to leave the vulnerable nest. The parents continue to feed and soon the baby will be hopping onto branches.

Salon June 3, 2017

Hairspray is melting

She returns to the wild woods

Brief brush with glamour.

Art Prescription: So I had a new haircut at a fancy salon yesterday. New stylist who worked my hair like a sculpture and then blew it dry with much precision. I drove to Sam’s office to show him my new do. I sort of felt all girly. Then today, we went hiking and my passion for nature overruled fashion. Still, thank you Travis!

Photo Friday

I’ve covered extra feeding shifts this week at the farm, and it’s been wonderful. Like a symphony, the horses come in when called (mostly), and go to their “space.” There is of course plate surfing which has to be monitored and controlled. Ha! Ever tried to stop a 1200 lb pet from stealing food?  It does take some understanding of herd behavior, and a “superwoman” pose. I adore each of these 13 horses.

Do-Over May 31, 2017

Reincarnation

A chance to do it over

Same lessons next time.

Art Prescription:  Seems the lessons we need to learn follow us throughout life. Ain’t it grande!! Everyday an adventure!

A re-do piece of art, even cut up to find a small portion I liked! HA!

Personality May 30, 2017

In field of plenty

Grateful for the chance to bloom

Flowers beam with pride.

Art Prescription:  As always when I have a chance to share watercolor, personalities blossom. It’s a bit of a hard task I ask…to let go…let the paint do the work…stay in the now. I so enjoy where each individual takes this.

Here is my first wash:

River Walk May 29, 2017

The river rushed by

Gurgling with white water

Around the dark rocks.

Art Prescription:  Today we took a drive to a small town near home called Bynum. It’s a historic mill town beside the Haw River. We walked along the old Bynum Bridge which is now just for walking and admired some songbirds. Then we hiked along the river listening to the water.

Pinks May 28, 2017

Fuchsia, melon

Cotton candy and berry

And then there is rose.

Art Prescription: I’ve always loved pink. I picked pink and red for my 10 year old bedroom. Some things are just part of your personality.
