Still Life January 14, 2016

A huddle of leaves

A January still life

Together we fall.

Art Prescription:  Perfect temperature for a nature walk. Lots of birds singing, robins, nuthatches, cedar waxwings, chickadees, cardinals. I was looking to see what might be coming out of the ground, but instead found this bunch of leaves an interesting subject.

Snowflake January 12, 2016

Snow in the forecast

Low of twenty-one degrees

Winter in the south.

Art Prescription:  Snow flurries are in the forecast which tends to excite folks in the south. Usually it’s lots of bread and milk, beer, and wine sold for sort of a tease.

Submission January 8, 2016

Fooled by warm weather

Some flowers bloom with good cheer

Winter submission.

Art Prescription:  In some ways we all must submit to winter. Yield…surrender…put on extra clothes…take a nap here and there. It seems in our DNA to hibernate a bit. Rest and rejuvenate.

Thaw January 7, 2016

Piping hot shower

My bones begin to thaw, warm

A luxury now.

Art Prescription:  Off work I skipped to my van thinking about how to spend my afternoon. R-R-R-R-R! The old girl wouldn’t start. Called my friend Kerry and she promptly brought jumper cables. “We” read the directions, she’s much better at these things! And R-R-R-R…nope.

AAA call put in. Waited in the cold for a bit too long. Kerry came again to tote my frozen bones home.

Wow. What a luxury a warm shower and warm clothes. Made me think of the homeless and how they suffer in the elements. Such things we take for granted daily, warmth, hot showers, home. I’m so grateful!!
