Tree canopies fill
Camouflaging bird’s new nests
Time to start brooding.
Art Prescription: On my morning walk I saw two baby squirrels peeking from their nest.
Birds are steadily building.
I continue to play with embroidery and making these pin cushions.

Hi folks,
I hope this is finding you well and coping with current conditions.
I’m extremely grateful to have Finn, nature, and art to carry me from day to day.
Windy day so I did not ride. Instead Finn had a spa day.
Lots of mane and tail product!!
Spoilt!!!!

Alone in the woods
Loose branches crackle to ground
Sounds of swaying pines
Art Prescription: Made a pin cushion from a free-hand embroidery piece.
Pretty scrappy!! LOL!!
Well with our extra time it’s fun to try something new.
Sewing is a challenge!

Slowing down to stitch
Time stretches out like a thread
One at a time, breathe.
Art Prescription: Working on my improvisational embroidery. Usually don’t have the patience.
One stitch at a time…

Robins dance in yard
Soon they will build their stick nest
And lay some blue eggs
Art Prescription: More time than usual to observe the birds. My backyard is a flutter with activity!
In the studio I continue to experiment with mixing media.
This started with laying in some watercolor. Then I sketched in sunflowers, more doodles, some collage, then painted around with my yellow-blue palette from mixing greens.

Bout size of chipmunk
Baby squirrel skitters out
While mom is away!
Art Prescription: On today’s walk I found a couple of squirrel’s nests.
First one the kids were on the move while mom was out. They skittered on branches just outside of nest, and promptly returned to safety.
The second was a surprise. I found an excavated hole in a tree and could see pieces of string and branches.
I waited for a bird to return. Then a little squirrel head poked out!
Meanwhile in the studio I continue to experiment with mixed media.
6 x 6 collage and acrylic:

Who could have ever predicted I’d be sheltering at home with a Chihuahua!
I know now even more than ever my mom misses Diva.
Diva’s life is certainly different. I think she likes the warmer weather.
She also likes studio time, although she finds much to get into.

She is a cuddle-bug.
Stay well dear friends!

Lines on calendar
Crossing out jobs and events
Life story BC.
Art Prescription: So before, BC, my schedule included teaching at the NC Botanical Garden.
Now, AC, I’m marking out event after event.
How are you coping dear friends?
I did paint today… not sure what this needs???

Trees wave in the breeze
Sun hits tips of new green leaves
Nature carries on.
Art Prescription: I’ve admired this Bush in a neighbor’s yard for weeks. Finally I saw her and she gave me permission to take a clipping.
I started with pen and ink:

And added watercolor:
