Mixed-media Butterfly Tutorial II

Hi!

So, after my watercolor dried I began to paint around the butterfly with white acrylic paint, craft paint is fine. It may take a couple of coats depending on how much collage you did.

Once the acrylic is dry you can add your stamped words. Anything goes.

I’d love to see what you did!

Last step is to crop and cut for framing or to add to your art journal!

Mixed-media butterfly tutorial

Hi!

Hope you are heading into fall with some creativity!

Over the next couple of posts I’m going to share a mixed-media butterfly project.

I’m starting with pretty papers, vintage music sheets, glue stick, and watercolor.

First I divide my paper in two. I’m making two 5 x 7 works. I loosely sketch my butterfly shape.

Next I glue assorted papers onto my page:

Then I watercolor my page:

Stay tuned for the next step tomorrow!

Cheers,

Bev

Life Patterns

Patterns do repeat

Until we choose to change, then

Is your glass half-full?

Art Prescription: On my mind a lot lately is how we live. Is your glass half-full or half-empty? How does this effect your day, your life?

Can we overcome negative thinking with positive attitudes and gratitude?

If you are feeling low energy, what must you do to regain a life purpose?

Random sketch:

Acceptance

Green with bits of red

Leaves hang on for their last days

Then float softly down.

Art Prescription: seems so much of life is going with the flow. And isn’t nice to have a positive forecast!

I do believe our thoughts are important and thinking positive and expressing gratitude help us through our days.

Art Prescription: Finally a fall-like day. Rode Finn and worked in yard. Remember my feral cat saga…here is “Blackie,” the male. He will let me pet him now. The female is cautiously getting closer.
