On the verge, leaving
Summer has a last hurrah
And launches to fall.
Art Prescription: At least we hope! Another ninety-degree day, but a cold front is supposed to move in tonight.

On record for hot
This October, a fall day
Begging us to look.
Art Prescription: Are we paying enough attention? Doing what we can locally, recycling, composting, turning water off while we brush our teeth. So overwhelming.
Mini-collage on a 4 x 6 canvas.
Here I honor nature and the life that prevails in their world.

How’s your perspective?
Do you value each life breath
To find JOY each day?
Art Prescription: So what do you guys think about positivity? Can positive thinking, meditation, and exercise change our mood and outlook?
I think so. Art Journal:

I cannot lie!! So
Here they go on a trail ride
Super sturdy steeds!
Art Prescription: sometimes my daily art is a moment of photo beauty. Oh and that last round steed is Finn!

Paper memories
Saved and glued in art Journal
Laying down the past.
Art Prescription: Do you wonder what treasures will be left to find at future antique sales?
With most people recording their lives digitally, will there be any really cool photos that document history? Way back in 2019?
Art Journal:

Leaves skip down the street
Squirrels gather winter seeds
And it’s ninety-three.
Art Prescription: all the signs of fall, but the heat of summer???????

Ever so gently
Leaves float and dance to the ground
Nature’s bold collage.
Art Prescription: You guys know I love to paint trees!
Today I got focused and did a graphite study of leaves using different numbered pencils, 6b to an H.

It’s still hot outside
Bear knows to stay hydrated
How to walk a dog!
Art Prescription: I love cats and dogs. We have always had cats since our 12 hour shifts were a factor.
I do love my evening walk when I meet my neighborhood dogs.

Hi!
So, after my watercolor dried I began to paint around the butterfly with white acrylic paint, craft paint is fine. It may take a couple of coats depending on how much collage you did.

Once the acrylic is dry you can add your stamped words. Anything goes.
I’d love to see what you did!
Last step is to crop and cut for framing or to add to your art journal!

Hi!
Hope you are heading into fall with some creativity!
Over the next couple of posts I’m going to share a mixed-media butterfly project.
I’m starting with pretty papers, vintage music sheets, glue stick, and watercolor.
First I divide my paper in two. I’m making two 5 x 7 works. I loosely sketch my butterfly shape.
Next I glue assorted papers onto my page:
Then I watercolor my page:

Stay tuned for the next step tomorrow!
Cheers,
Bev
