Eighty-four degrees
July, you speak now of fall
Yet, flowers do bloom.
Art Prescription: A tiny break in the weather reminds me that change is coming.

Eighty-four degrees
July, you speak now of fall
Yet, flowers do bloom.
Art Prescription: A tiny break in the weather reminds me that change is coming.
Tiny art journal with watercolor:

Warm and humid air
Gives way to a front, cool air
And it feels like fall.
Art Prescription: So many days of 90 plus temperatures, so this cold front that came in is a hint of fall.
I’m still working on this graphite drawing. So difficult to get it right!

Heat index one-ten
Sweat rolls down my face and back
Potted flowers wilt.
Art Prescription: Keeping flowers alive and well through a heat wave is a challenge,
Art Journal:

Caught, sudden downpour
Deep in the woods in the rain
Steam rises from ground.
Art Prescription: When Sam And I started off this morning to go see Finn the Mercury was rising quickly.
A quick groom and walk and I was dripping.
Off to the Hillsborough River Walk we went.
We traded sweat for rain!
Home to work in my 36 x 36 painting:
What does it need?

Slink past your legs, purr
Beg for food and lots of pets
Think they own the bed.
Art Prescription: Ode to the house cat…
Sketchbook:

So, as you have seen, I’m trying to draw horses. My goal is to capture minimal lines that say a lot about horse movement.

They flit, fly, and crawl
Bite, sting, burrow, draw fresh blood
The summertime bugs!
Art Prescription: So while probably texting, deep admission, I looked down and found my pink clogs, without socks, covered in fire-ants. Holy Batman watch where you walk!
Three days later I’m still applying cortisone cream.
I’m really interested in capturing the essence of horses for my big, 36 x 36, painting.
With a heat index of 104, I ventured out to farm to field-sketch, literally.
Graphite on paper:

Layers of color
Atmospheric soft background
Gestural drawing.
Art Prescription: I’m working on a large 36 x 36 canvas. I’ve painted lots of layers and then dripped an acrylic wash over the entire canvas.

Then I’m sketching with graphite trying to achieve the gestural feeling I have in my head.

Sleek curves and round butts
Long willowy manes and tails
Soft welcoming eyes.
Art Prescription: So I painted a 36 x 36 background today. I have a vision in my head with a horse.
Here I’ve done several thumbnails sketching out composition. So far I’ve gone off the canvas.
Sketchbook:

Yellow Roses bloom
You are not here to smell them
They grew from your love.
