To swim, poetic
Pause to take a deep breath, stroke
Rhythm, flow, water.
Art Prescription: Was thinking today as I was swimming how poetry and swimming are similar. There is a cadence to my stroke, a rhythm as I kick my feet, a pause as I turn my head to breathe. For me this is a moving meditation. Colored pencil and pen and ink 3 x 5 index card.
Along the lake edge
Geese and ducks huddle for warmth
Blue heron stands proud.
Art Prescription: Layers, gloves, scarf, mittens…it’s cold out there. And totally worth it. I think the ducks are courting.

Sketches and paints for shear bliss
A gift to stranger.
Art Prescription: I went to the North Carolina Botanical Gardens today to field sketch. Using pen and ink and watercolor pencils, I worked on 3 x 5 index cards. And as I finished one I gave it to the first person who came by.
