Art Prescription: I’ve been weaving my two worlds of nursing and art together for about 10 years…maybe 11…or all my life…which came first? I love both in many ways. Often it’s the transition that is hardest. What hats do you wear? Which hat fits you best? Fits your spirit?
Afraid of corners?
Are you holding on too tight?
Can you sit back, down?
Art Prescription: I’m practicing awareness. Where does my energy go? Who and whom do I allow into my space, my energy field? When do I feel empowered, energized, and when do I feel depleted? Working with horses at Blue Skies of Mapleview is humbling. The horses, with their soft knowing gaze, are helping me get in touch with a couple of things, and it’s all that and more!

Art Prescription: I sit and watch…observe their ears, their eyes, their tales as they swish at flies. They know I’m there. One of the most joyful things about sketching is simply the art of observation. I notice the sights, sounds, and smells of my surroundings. I get still and take it all in.

Art Prescription: A bird watching hike to Tobacco Road Trail. The trail head is near Jordan Lake wetlands. Lots to see there…and in my own backyard. Sketchbook…pen and ink.

Art Prescription: I did not heed the weather forecast, so came home looking like a wet rat! And a cold rain too. Warm shower, p.j.’s, and a quick pen and ink.

Art Prescription: I rode Lacey today, a new mare at Blue Skies. Hot day for May, so after our ride we got to spray them off. They really liked that!! And just like a clean dog, Lacey trotted into the grassy meadow and proceeded to roll. Pretty cute!! Pen and ink and watercolor 5 x 7.

Art Prescription: It doesn’t take much for me to feel like a princess. A day in the sun, pulling weeds optimal, time in my studio, a cat purr, long walks with my hubby. Blessed!

Two new mares arrive

Art Prescription: Fascinating day at the farm. Two new mares are coming to visit Blue Skies of Mapleview. So some mixing up of the paddocks was involved. The home-horses were all a bit like, what? new? where is she going? And the two new mares were like, this place has exquisite hay, and we like all the attention, which we will ignore because, well we are new. The boys suffered a bit…Girl Power!!!
