Garden art fairy

Sketches and paints for shear bliss

A gift to stranger.

Art Prescription:  I went to the North Carolina Botanical Gardens today to field sketch. Using pen and ink and watercolor pencils, I worked on 3 x 5 index cards. And as I finished one I gave it to the first person who came by.

Haiku August 30, 2013 Courage To Change

Dog barks in distance

Low August sun warms shoulders

Pull rock from my shoe.

Art Prescription:  How long have I walked with that rock in my shoe? Feeling one-sided, out of balance, slightly annoyed. I heard the constant click as my foot hit the path, but didn’t really stop to see what was there. Like most of life, we have to make a conscious decision to pay attention.

Ah, the decision cascade: If this, then that, and what if? And we limp along.

What if it was really as simple as taking the rock from your shoe and moving on one step at a time!!

ps. the rock will be fine, rocks have their place, that’s how they became rocks…you my friend have become water, dynamic and flowing!

Haiku August 28 All Is Well

Aware of subtle

Shift in light, songs of crickets

All is well, all is…

Art Prescription:  I love the subtle nuances of each day as the season begins to shift. In an effort to spread good vibes, I’m giving away a couple of index card pieces a week. They can be used to stick in your mates lunch, pin to your desk space, or send to a friend. They are so fun and I hope to share this pick-me-up art! Beautiful Morning August 25,2013

I wish I could put

A morning like this in a

Box, save forever!

Art Prescription:  A perfect morning and day…the reason people move to NC. Cool to walk and comfortable to work in garden. I actually did some very productive puttering. I’ve had my years of Bon Appetite magazines in the garage to go through and get my favorite recipes. I know it’s irrational as everything is online, but somehow those actual magazines represent a part of my life. I’m trying to practice letting-go…
