Slow Stitching

Meditational

A needle, thread, slow stitching

Embroidery rose.

Art Prescription: Today while it was cool and rainy, I stitched the rose.

I’m putting together a kit idea. A kit would come with everything to stitch this mini piece of art.

It could be framed or made into a pin-cushion or lavender sachet.

Fresh Laundry May 9, 2017

Dried by sun and breeze

Clothes and towels hang on line

Load of fresh laundry.

Art Prescription:  My grandmother’s towels smelled like fresh air and sunshine. I can see her right now with an apron on, clothespins in the pocket, reaching up to the clothesline to hang a fresh load of laundry.

March Journal Page March 21, 2017

Bullfrogs croak, fish swirl

Great blue heron struts the shore

Water reflects sky.

Art Prescription:  I spent my afternoon gathering supplies for art journaling kits. I love my art journal…a place to play with mixed media, a place to experience art versus “making” art. Creativity is so important to a balanced life. I’ve listed a few of my kits in my Etsy shop. Take a look and be inspired! I’d love to see what you do!

Here is my journal for today. I collaged vintage papers all over page. Then I sketched some pansies from my garden onto the page and colored them with a light wash of watercolor.

Suddenly February 12, 2017

Suddenly it’s spring

A shift in the wind, a tease

Winter is not done.

Art Prescription:  Very spring-like day here in North Carolina. I have a feeling that winter has another round of frigid. Right now…I turned my AC on…in February?
