Haiku July 25, 2013 Freshman

Long trails of students

File together through campus

Tour of their future.

Art Prescription:  Since my RN job is part of UNC,  I’m around students every day. They are young and eager and have the world in front of them. Today while waiting for my bus home a large group passed by. I couldn’t help but look at them with a sense of envy and relief!! Can you imagine being a freshman again? Can you imagine being a freshman again!!

Haiku July 21, 2013 Travel

Her yellow suitcase

Is packed thanks to the cosmos

Wait, the sunflower!

Art Prescription:  I adore watching the bees hover around my garden filling their pollen pouches with yellow gold. They get so loaded down, and yet they move on to the next bloom and the next…clearly inebriated!  New wedding invitation designs!

Haiku July 13, 2013 Pieces of Life

Life is a puzzle

At times all the pieces fit

At times parts are lost.

Art Prescription:  So what do you do on those days where things just don’t seem to fit together? What can you do to shift your mood to something better? Exercise, art, music, cook, pets…name your remedy! Please share!

Rejuvination

A spring of positive strength

Renew, refresh, grow!!

Art Prescription:  I’ve had two very busy days at my nursing job. Life presents us many ways to grow and learn. Art is a perfect conduit for catharsis, a way to channel emotions, and come out on the other side with a sense of renewal.

Haiku July, 11, 2013 Steady Drizzle

Set out for a walk

Clouds gathered, distant rumble

Rain drops fall, I’m wet!!

Art Prescription:  This time of year a walk in a steady drizzle can actually be refreshing. Then my neighbor’s dog took off running wild through the woods, freaked by the thunder. I went off after him, poison ivy and all! Like a deer he shot through the bramble. Luckily he and his owner are both safely home, not sure who is more shaken. For me, a warm shower and a glass of wine should do.
