Haiku November 25, 2012 Leaf Quilt

Beneath the leaf quilt

Wildflowers wait patiently

While winter performs!

Art Prescription:  Even though the woods seem very quiet now, how nice, there is always a lot going on underneath the surface. Don’t let the cold keep you indoors. Put on a scarf, big coat, and mittens, and go out into nature! A red cardinal sitting on a winter branch is stunning!

Haiku November 20, 2012 Solitude

Alone, not lonely

Shear peacefulness, quiet bliss

Hear your own footsteps!

Art Prescription:  Do you enjoy being alone? I do. Even more so when the world is whirling away at the speed of light. I love it so quiet that the only thing I hear are the squirrels chattering, the birds chirping, and the crunch of leaves under each step! and the swish of my paint brush!

Haiku November 17, 2012 Evening in the Woods

Owl calls out from woods

Eyes acclimate as light fades

Birds announce days end.

Art Prescription:  Sam and I went for a late afternoon, almost evening, walk at Mason Farm. Lots of activity as the temperature drops and the sun sets with a dramatic pink sky!! As squirrels scurry to their nests, birds take last call, and the nocturnal world begins to wake.

Haiku November 14, 2012 Leaf Collage

Rich earth, woodsy smell

Steady shower of leaves fall

Ground collage takes shape.

Art Prescription:  An early walk in the woods is good for the soul! Standing there watching morning sunlight stream in as leaves dance and sway to the ground is magical. I felt for a moment, oh no! what if this were not here! So quiet and peaceful there…like no other place.
