Layers make a whole
Patience wins over hurry

Art Prescription: I’m as guilty as the next for trying to hurry-up and get to the next task…and in the mean-time, text a friend, look at Facebook, and check e-mail. We are such a culture of multitasking that it’s no wonder Attention Deficit Disorder is rampant. This afternoon I painted in my garden. For several hours I did nothing but take brush to paint to canvas. Sublime! This has some layers to go…
Through the flower vase
The sun settles low. Night-time
Slinks in with the moon.

Stretches on wool rug.
Art Prescription: My black house cat Matisse meows from sun-up to sun-down. High maintenance, but I love him dearly. This afternoon I took him with me out to my studio. He didn’t say a word!! Meandered around, slinking by my ankles and stretching out on my rug. I think he knew he was in sacred space. Art Prescription: When I stepped around to my path to my studio, three beautiful swallowtails were dancing around my pink Echinacea. It was like magic. I’d love to paint this…for now a capture.
Warm velvet soft nose
Smell of fresh hay and cut grass
Afternoon horse barn.
Art Prescription: There is just something about being around horses. Their warm brown eyes and soft ears, majestic musculature, swishy tails, the smell of leather, and a historic relationship. We’ve long been bound to these creatures.
Loneliness is not
Being only flower bud
But failure to bloom.
Art Prescription: The garden is ripe with buds and blooms and it occurs to me that to make a garden whole it takes many elements. The rain, the sun, the soil, birds, bees, and the instinctual element of life growing on despite any adversary. A tree fallen by a storm, will only grow upward with new branches.
