Art Prescription: Idyllic July day. Spent most of it outside admiring my garden and then walked over to the North Carolina Botanical Garden. The abundance of flowers is intoxicating.

Art Prescription: On this Independence Day I’m making a delicious dish from India! Home-made garam-masala! Grilled eggplant…etc. We live a rich life with an abundance of everything at our finger-tips. I am thankful!!

She pecks at mosses
Beak full she pauses, waits for
His wings to say fly!
Art Prescription: Watching a pair of purple finches in my backyard…delightful. Clearly team work as she gathers materials for a nest, he stands watch to see that the coast is clear. A slight jiggle of wings is cue for them to fly off together for their destination.

Art Prescription: At my nursing job we are hosting an undergraduate student program. Eagerly these young folks follow the surgeon I work for and try to absorb enough information to guide their next move in life. It’s so important to choose something that feeds your spirit and gives your ego a boost. And to choose a vocation from your heart versus what people want you to be!!

Like a teddy bear
Cat creeps up between my arms
Whiskers tickle face.
Art Prescription: Soft velvet ears and a love to be petted defines my cats. There is always someone to cuddle with. A simple pleasure is to lie down for a mid-day rest and have a furry being join you. Mind-you there is no sleep involved, because petting and/or marching on pillows is in high order. Just the same it’s wonderful!!

Art Prescription: Do you wake up in the morning and feel a big, long, day is ahead of you with many possibilities? When I write in my journal at bedtime, sometimes I’m amazed at all that goes on in one day…and I like it like that!
