Visitor

Just then she was there

Perched in a dogwood, hunting

Swooped up in a pine.

Art Prescription: I love when I feel visited by Mother Nature. Today on my walk I spent some time visiting with a hawk.

I think a Red-shouldered Hawk.

Day Hike

A drive, rural roads

Barns and pastures, fall color

Woodland hike to damn.

Art Prescription: We set out this morning on a day hike. Just a 50 minute drive outside of Chapel Hill and you land in Alamance County, Saxipahaw, and great hiking!

Yes, we did pass the brewery going and coming home. Next time maybe we will have a cold brew!

This park appeals to a lot of people: hikers, disc golf enthusiast, historians, and equestrians.

We stopped to rest at the damn. Diva got to stretch and I got to sketch.

50th Anniversary

Our very good friends and neighbors are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary tomorrow. Wow!

What a life and legacy they have created.

I did a couple of collage pages to go in a scrap book their daughter has designed for them.

Upcycled Textile Art

Hi,

Finished my textile art piece today!

Really neat since I made it with an upcycled tablecloth where many meals were served. So this piece has memories embedded in the fabric.

I’d love a piece like this with my grandmother’s apron or a piece of a loved ones clothes.

This is framed with a Gallery Frame.

What a joy to work on such a personal piece of art.

Cheers,

Bev

Sentient Being

A merry-go-round

Breeze carries a leaf swirling

Touches down at rest

Art Prescription: My sweet Finn was amazing today. Horses are sentient beings.

We sat together and he put his muzzle on my head as if to say I know you are sad and I’m here for you.

Sketching Fall Wildfowers

I had a lovely group this morning at the North Carolina Botanical Garden.

I showed them three techniques for capturing the essence of fall wildflowers.

Brush painting with watercolor.

Drawing with watercolor pencils and adding water.

Negative painting.

Bonus: pen and ink.

I did a demo of negative painting to capture these tiny asters. Then I added pen to suggest detail.

Thank you dear readers for your support. Art will pull me through.

Be well,

Bev
