Red poinsettia
Dark green leaves, velvet blossom
Holiday symbol!
Art Prescription: At this time of the year the stores are full of red and white showy poinsettias. A seasonal find, a must have decorative touch for the holidays.
Meow howl for chow
Long lick both chops, clean face, purr
Repeat twice a day!
Art Prescription: We have cats! Three! I’d love a dog too, but for now the cats rule! Artist throughout history have studied the long and graceful lines of cat behavior. My favorite is Steinlen! If you have pets they are perfect for gestural sketching…try and capture the essence of dog or cat -itude!
Compassion: to walk
A brief time in other’s shoes
Give of time and heart.
Art Prescription: The holiday season brings out extremes in feelings. At any given point in life you or I may respond differently to a world where “everyone else seems normal.” No matter what holiday you celebrate, there is bound to be some roller-coaster of emotions. The perfect gift, time and heart!
Little dog, huge will
Fetches sticks twice his own size
Lays at master’s feet!
Art Prescription: On morning walk ran into Joe and Frodo. Frodo is a Jack Russell Terrier. He came bounding out of the woods with a branch about 6 feet long. A hilarious sight. Joe said, “That’s not a big stick!. Go get a big stick!” Frodo darted into the woods and came out carrying a stick at least twice his size…he thinks he is a big dog!! Lesson: Go for the big sticks…even if you have to growl a bit along the way!! New ad!
Bold little faces
Brave the cold to add color
To winter gardens!
Art Prescription: When the garden is covered in dried leaves and skeletons of last summer’s flowers, the bold color and determination of pansies, also known as violas, brighten my day. As I turn the curve to walk to my studio I’m met with tricolor faces reaching for the winter sun.
Bramble, straw grasses
Frame the stark woods, winter gold
Pod menagerie.
Art Prescription: Walked Mason Farm this morning and put out a Haiku-O-Gram (anonymous art with haiku meant to brighten someone’s day). The winter landscape is stirring…browns, reds, and golden rods of many different kinds of grasses. Detailed seed pods sprinkle the meadow.
