Owlets June 5, 2015

Owlets peek out from

Holes in trees, big round wide eyes

They practice the hunt.

Art Prescription:  From the start it seems nature’s babies have their “ness” about them. Their owl “ness,” their horse “ness,” their dog “ness.”

Waiting on a Horse May 22, 2015

We drank Prosecco

At the barn, as we waited

For the horse trailer.

Art Prescription:  A new horse arrived at the farm today. A beautiful “flea bitten” mare, which means she is white and dappled in grey. The hauler was late due to Memorial Day traffic, but this little beauty got off the trailer calm as could be. She ate grass while the geldings stood at attention in a cloud of excited dust.

Honeysuckle May 17, 2015

Wild woodsy perfume

Yellow honeysuckle vines

Unruly tangle.

Art Prescription:  Walked Mason Farm. The woods are heady with the scent of honeysuckle. This invasive vine winds itself around anything standing. Maybe we dismissed it’s misbehavior because it’s so fragrant.

Warblers May 11, 2015

Big song from tree tops

Hard to find this small warbler

Prothonotary!

Art Prescription:  Throughout our stay at Primland we kept hearing a distinct song in the tree-tops. Finally yesterday I got a view of this small warbler. It’s a guess, but

IIndex card Prothonotary think it’s a Prothonotary Warbler.

Shade and Sketch May 4, 2015

Under the shade tree

Cows, sheep, and goats roam, while the

Farm tells us stories.

Art Prescription:  A day for all the senses. Blue skies with puffy white clouds, the smell of fresh hay and grass, lambs bah, a red apple to eat, the feel of a wooden picnic table. Field sketching at Hogan Farm.
