With big buckets full of rain
Studio warm, dry.
Art Prescription: I love the sound of rain on my studio roof. So soothing as I lay down watercolor washes. Big clouds hover over North Carolina, but looks the hurricane is going out to sea. Fall is upon us…nice cool weather.

Art Prescription: Deer medicine has come into my art again. Here is an excerpt from “Medicine Cards: The Discovery of Power Through the Ways of Animals,” by Jamie Sams And David Carson.

Art Prescription: I’m still seeing hummingbirds coming to fall blooms. They won’t be around for long as they prepare for migration.

My bike wheels spin on the trail
Flowers go to seed.
Art Prescription: Sam and I went to Tobacco Trail today. We drove out across Jordan Lake to the portion of the trail that crosses the wetlands of the lake. We saw four different kinds of woodpeckers. They have a primo opportunity in that habitat with all the stags. I’m coloring my Art Prescription Deck to make thumbnails for final production. This is the fun part!
Each 5 x 7 card in the deck will be printed on Bristol Vellum – an artist grade paper! The botanical names will be listed and the family.

Art Prescription: Remember the clicks in high-school where you were struggling to fit in? As adults, I think we struggle with this issue. Life is like a river, constantly moving and changing, going with the flow. Birds seem better than us at knowing who they want to fly with. For them it’s simple. It’s mutual support.

Art Prescription: Positive energy begets positive energy! Being with the horses is the best reminder of this truth. Who and where you spend your precious energy can really have an impact on your life. Surround yourself with positive people and see how your days, week, and years become happier and more balanced. Weeds can take over a neglected garden. Our thoughts and energies are the same. We have to constantly observe and weed!

Art Prescription: The shear act of listening is an art. In our push a button hyped up world of texting and immediate gratification, do we really take the time to listen to others? I love my gadgets… and I also love slowing down at the farm with the horses. Really nice.
