Art Prescription: So my good friend Farley said to me today, “pause, ponder, produce.” I just adore that. I invite you to do the same!! And let your muse in to “pause, ponder, produce.” Aho!
Big fat dragonflies
Wings flicker in sun over
Turtles on a log.
Art Prescription: It was very “buzzy” at Mason Farm today. Lots of winged insects. Dragonflies big as birds, well, almost. Watercolor pencil on 3 x 5 notecard illustration.
Out beyond the gate
I find my breath, deep and full
On a white mare’s back.
Art Prescription: Rode Lacey today! Some ring work…my trot a little better…and then off into the woods and corn-fields. Lean forward going up-hill and lean back going down hill. I try to let her rhythm carry my body. Trust, let go and breathe. Folks this is big.
Rose grows empty lot
Her red blooms tell a story

Art Prescription: We are all planting seeds. Some we will see grow and flourish, and others we will leave behind for the future. Plant well my friend…
Two worlds, artist, nurse
Some days my hat does not fit

Art Prescription: I’ve been weaving my two worlds of nursing and art together for about 10 years…maybe 11…or all my life…which came first? I love both in many ways. Often it’s the transition that is hardest. What hats do you wear? Which hat fits you best? Fits your spirit?
Afraid of corners?

Art Prescription: I’m practicing awareness. Where does my energy go? Who and whom do I allow into my space, my energy field? When do I feel empowered, energized, and when do I feel depleted? Working with horses at Blue Skies of Mapleview is humbling. The horses, with their soft knowing gaze, are helping me get in touch with a couple of things, and it’s all that and more!
Wild irises grow

Art Prescription: An evening walk around our neighborhood pond…relaxing. And I see a duck with 10 ducklings trailing behind her. I hope to get some sketches of this fowl family. For now, the purple wild irises hold my attention. Pen and ink in sketchbook.
Raining cats and dogs
Windshield wipers on high mode
No umbrella, wet!!
Art Prescription: I did not heed the weather forecast, so came home looking like a wet rat! And a cold rain too. Warm shower, p.j.’s, and a quick pen and ink.
Bare feet slinky fur
Cat swirls around my ankles
Claims territory.
Art Prescription: I’m pet sitting. So I go over to visit with my coffee, and much to my own cat’s chagrin, I come home smelling of “mine.” My neighbor’s cat, who is cute as pie, is more interested in marking her ownership than eating. Interesting what one will do for love and acceptance.
Smell of vetiver
Rich, earthy bog, sweet wetlands
Guppies, frogs, and snakes!
Art Prescription: Snakes! Yikes, but some people love seeing them. They are nature’s creations too. As we head into warmer weather, the bog awakens, and the water is teaming with life. Remember when you looked at bog water under a microscope? Spirogyra…Be curious.
