Self-Expression September 5, 2017

When I try to paint

Like someone other than me

I can do NO ART.

Art Prescription:  Where does art come from? Sure in this digital, linked-in, social-media full world we are inundated by other’s work. And that’s not all bad. I do enjoy a nice Instagram surf with my morning coffee. But then I must go to my studio alone. I must face the blank paper.

It’s brave to go at it alone.

It’s brave to listen to and express your own voice.

In the pouring rain

We fluff our wet, cold, feathers

And continue work.

Art Prescription:  Yes I’m obsessed with my chickadees. And my new illustrated book!! Thoughts of a Golden Fox!

I’m very excited to introduce my latest illustration work, “Thoughts of a Golden Fox.”

Thoughts of a Golden Fox, written by Charles David Rushbrook and illustrated by Beverly Dyer, is a delightful book for children, ages 6-11. The story is told from the viewpoint of a mother Golden Fox, which, according to the book’s short and gentle-hearted Glossary, is “…a magical, and rarely seen, species of fox with unbelievably beautiful golden coats!

Sketching with Matilda November 15, 2016

Warm and cozy eve

Care for a special kitty

Sketch with Matilda.

Art Prescription:  Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know Matilda, the cat I helped rescue from 9 degree winter nights. She then found her forever home with my neighbors, and lucky me I pet sit her often as they are world travelers! I love her like one of my own, and when her parents are gone I sketch and read at her house.
