Haiku July 6, 2013 Bee Balm

Busy, busy, bees

Yo-yo over red bee balm

Fill up on the sweet.

Art Prescription:  Idyllic July day. Spent most of it outside admiring my garden and then walked over to the North Carolina Botanical Garden.  The abundance of flowers is intoxicating.

Haiku June 29, 2013 Content at Home

Feel content at home

Life’s ambitions surround me

Art, books, and journals.

Art Prescription:  Your home tells a story about you. When you look around you should feel cozy and welcome and comforted by the things you have collected. A garden in bloom is a chapter of dirty hands and blissful spirit!

Programed to bloom pink

Roses explode with spring glee

Blush with rich color!!

Art Prescription:  The garden is taking off now…roses, phlox, Gerber daisies! The roses are always so fresh. We cut them and bring them inside to enjoy their natural perfume. What’s blooming in your yard?

September roses

Late blooms announce season end

Time to rest, renew.

Art Prescription:  Here in NC roses bloom sometimes into October. I know, we are lucky. I don’t have the heart to do the prescribed cut when my roses still have buds. But it is necessary. Parallel to life there is a time to grow and a time to rest. Fall signals nature to begin the journey to rest. We all need rest to renew…
