Lost Lamb March 30, 2014

The lamb must be lost

Tiny wild blue hyacinths

Charm the lion’s roar.

Art Prescription:  Hiked Merritt’s Pasteur today, a walk along a river that loops up and over a meadow. Saw lots of wildflowers and goldfinches. Still wearing my winter coat and gloves! The wind bites.

Haiku January 16, 2013 Rx for Rainy Day

Another grey day

Crawl in bed pull covers up?

Or paint a rainbow!!

Art Prescription:  Human nature, grey-rainy days equals hibernation. The pull of warm covers and a hubby taking a nap….noooooooooo! So I went to swim!! Came home energized! Another “Stripe” painting. Turned it sideways for a little sunrise surprise!

Haiku December 21, 2012 Winter Solstice

First day of winter

Wind whips, whistles at window

Temperatures plunge!!

Art Prescription: A low in the 20’s! Well it is the first day of winter! Winter Solstice, also known as Yule, Midwinter, and the Longest Night is indeed the longest night. From here forward the nights shorten and the days lengthen setting off nature’s internal clocks for spring. It’s the most Yin day of the year! Both the astronomical and cultural history of this date are interesting, and  Mayans willing and the creek don’t rise, I’ll be back tomorrow!

Symphony in trees

Silver streaks of black birds fly

South for the winter!

Art Prescription:  If you wake to a cacophony of birds in the trees, it’s likely flocks and flocks of black birds making their way south for winter. They are so noisy! And then one flap of the wing sends the whole bunch of them off to follow the pack. Nature’s rhythm amazes me! How at just the right time flora and fauna know their job…no questioning or laboring like us humans…should of, could of, would of, what if…
