Art Prescription: Taking a subject and doing multiples is skill building. You find out what works and what doesn’t, you can play with color, size, and composition. I’m doing these for a note card design for UNC Hospitals. Which one do you like?

Art Prescription: In a do, do, do society, have we forgotten how to rest? Rest our bodies, our minds, and our spirits. How do you renew? How do you tune-out the world in order to tune in to your core?

What does YES look like?
Art Prescription: To me YES looks like a butterfly flying gracefully over the sweet nectar that is life. And landing on a few flowers here and there to refuel. But always it’s about the sweet spot.
Open door weather
My studio, my escape
Breeze sweeps my brushes.
Art Prescription: And then don’t know what got into me, but I started finger painting. Squirting paint directly onto paper and spreading it with my fingers. It’s good to get your hands into a little paint now and then.

A herd of horses
Come thundering across field
Majestic beauties!
Art Prescription: Watching Deborah Pearson-Moyers (http://www.blueskiesmapleview.us/aboutus.htm) call her herd of horses and see them galloping across the field for breakfast is simply a moment of pure magic! They were not visible out in the pasture, but her voice had them come over the ridge of the field in one big thundering group. She said, “Listen to that!” Yep she loves it! Me too!
New friends, like minded
Walk and talk as fall begins

Art Prescription: We hiked both weekend days at Mason Farm, a local wildlife preserve close to home. It’s a spirit-filled place for both of us. A place to be still and quiet and listen to the wind.
Grasshoppers set sail
Over thickets of purple
Yellow Golden Rod!
Art Prescription: Lots of flying grasshoppers today and dragonflies. Interesting behavior, dragonflies dipping their tails into puddles of water. They are laying eggs. Dragonflies dip and swoop, territorial action…flying bugs!
The corn fields been plowed
Tall brownish stalks bend to ground
Asters fill meadows.
Art Prescription: Another day in the country. Went and helped paint barns at the farm where I’m riding horses. Then walked with hubby at Mason Farm, our favorite place. The wildflowers are plenty. Started a painting…stay tuned for tomorrow…I’ll finish!!
