Summer heat rises
White clouds billow with pressure
Thunder in distance.
Art Prescription: As the summer heat creates storms, I’m finishing a couple of wedding commissions. These are especially rewarding to do. A new piece of art for the new couple, designed around their invitation.

Art Prescription: Trying my hand at some “refrigerator pickles.” I went to a demo at our local farmer’s market and it looked fun and simple.

Art Prescription: When I stepped around to my path to my studio, three beautiful swallowtails were dancing around my pink Echinacea. It was like magic. I’d love to paint this…for now a capture.

Warm velvet soft nose
Smell of fresh hay and cut grass
Afternoon horse barn.
Art Prescription: There is just something about being around horses. Their warm brown eyes and soft ears, majestic musculature, swishy tails, the smell of leather, and a historic relationship. We’ve long been bound to these creatures.

Haiku July, 11, 2013 Steady Drizzle
Set out for a walk
Clouds gathered, distant rumble
Rain drops fall, I’m wet!!
Art Prescription: This time of year a walk in a steady drizzle can actually be refreshing. Then my neighbor’s dog took off running wild through the woods, freaked by the thunder. I went off after him, poison ivy and all! Like a deer he shot through the bramble. Luckily he and his owner are both safely home, not sure who is more shaken. For me, a warm shower and a glass of wine should do.

Art Prescription: Went to a “refrigerator pickling” demo today at the local farmer’s market. Good things to come from that!! And the zinnias stole my eye!
