First rose of summer
Deep red, velvet, with a scent
To wish to bathe in!
Art Prescription: First to bloom this year, my red rose. I did indeed stop by to smell…and magic! Wish I could bottle this scent!!
Countdown to Surtex
So I dig, plant annuals
Get myself grounded.
Art Prescription: I leave in a couple of days for Surtex in New York. I’m both excited and nervous. I’ve done this show a few times, but every year it all feels new. Along with Surtex is the National Stationery Show, the Contemporary Furniture Show, and this year an arts and crafts section which I’m thrilled to see. I do love home though, so today I worked a bit planting my garden so I have peace to come back to!
Twirl! Double helix.
Life winds itself in and out
Meets back in middle!
Art Prescription: Final workshop today in this series of Art Prescription Art Journaling. Thanks to a great group!! That and a walk with a friend got me thinking about relationships and how they spiral in and out. Two people constantly changing and hopefully, in a marriage or partnership, they spiral back together as one for a while! Each person being whole and living life, intertwined with another. Life is grand, and oh so fun to share!!
Unmistakable
The universal language
A mother and child.
Art Prescription: It doesn’t matter which language is spoken, the caring guidance of a mother is universally understood. Research shows all humans use the same tone when talking to babies. Mothers seek with gentle love to keep their children safe, healthy, and happy. They hurt when you hurt, soar when you soar, and are always there to encourage you to be the best you can possibly be!! Thanks, Mom! I love you!
One simple kind act
Like one pure drop of water
Ripples from center.
Art Prescription: I don’t watch the news much. I think it sensationalizes negatives and leaves people feeling depressed about the world we live in….And that is just NOT the whole picture! People are good and generous, and acts of kindness occur daily all around us, they just don’t make the evening news! Be the water!
Birds don’t seem to mind
Sharing the same bath water.
And the line starts here!!
Art Prescription: There is a definite pecking order at the bird bath. A blue jay and robin negotiate, the blue jay goes first. As soon as he is done, the robin hops in and flutters with delight…never-mind who went first! Others wait on the side-lines for their turn. Seems an amicable bunch.
