Art Prescription: Another fully lived day painting in my garden. This time I set about to paint Cosmos and painted Cosmos. And a hot herb bath will ready me for my nursing job tomorrow…mind, body, and spirit!

Art Prescription: All set up outside with my paint and easel. Hat and sunscreen, check, I set out to paint my explosion of cosmos. Stroked and splattered with teals and yellow. Decided I would add a few cone flowers for the background, and then the muse just ruled. Perhaps tomorrow I will paint cosmos!

Quiet day in thought
Back porch geraniums glow
Catch September light.
Art Prescription: As much as I love fall and the cooler weather, I will miss my colorful blooming garden. So I spent today capturing my back-porch geraniums with watercolor and ink. This technique allows for expressive brush work. I use a brush designed for Chinese brush painting, just one brush. I stroke in impressionistic shapes, let that dry, and then go back in with pen and ink for a hint of detail. I think this is my favorite way to paint!!
