Tremble in their frame
Delicate ephemerals
Up from frozen ground.
Art Prescription: About now the banks of creeks are full of blooming Trout Lilies. I adore their delicate nodding heads.

Anxious to burst forth
Buds on trees wait their turn to
Add color to woods.
Art Prescription: One of my favorites…the Pink Dogwood.

Suddenly it’s spring
A shift in the wind, a tease
Winter is not done.
Art Prescription: Very spring-like day here in North Carolina. I have a feeling that winter has another round of frigid. Right now…I turned my AC on…in February?
Index card with pen and ink and colored pencil:

As the garden wains
My imagination comes
To stay for winter.
Art Prescription: My favorite way to paint…random chaos, drips and puddles, blooms, that become a wildflower meadow.
8 x 8 watercolor

First truly cool day
The pool chairs all stacked up now
October takes hold.
Art Prescription: Perfect for horseback riding!!

Infinite design
The ultimate architect
Snowflake and flower.
Art Prescription: Seems the same perfect designs show up in all of nature’s creations. My wonderful neighbors brought me a bouquet of Bachelor’s Button. I did this study of a single flower.
Index card with pen and ink and colored pencil, chop says “hope,” machine stitching:

Fresh wildflower wreaths
With pansies, bluets, roses
Bountiful circle.
Art Prescription: Anything in a circle is so pleasing. I think it taps into something deep and symmetrical in our DNA. It’s fun to make a real nature mandala. These are made with models from my garden and watercolor.
Watercolor 8 x 8 work in progress studio shot…

Scent fills up the air
Romance is happening now
Butterflies delight.
Art Prescription: Spring is sexy! Everywhere I look someone is either fighting for territory or “rights.” What looks like a scuffle is fore-play and nests are being built!
