Stars and Clouds

Thanks to all of you for taking a peek at the Art Prescription. I look forward to getting to know what you do and how we can share our art and  inspiration.

I had a wonderful Monday meeting with the North Carolina Botanical Garden, Dr. John Evans with Wellness and Writing, and Tracey Ritchie from Environmental Educators of North Carolina.

In November I’ll be doing an Expressive Painting Workshop at the North Carolina Botanical Garden to relieve holiday stress. Participants will go home with holiday cards ready to mail out and ideas for gift tags and place settings!

Dr. Evans and I brain-stormed on how to merge wellness writing with expressive painting…more on this soon…art/writing/journaling!

The Environmental Educators of North Carolina are hosting the 40th annual North American Association for Environmental Education conference in Raleigh in October. Part of the conference every year is a silent auction that benefits college student scholarships. I donated one of my sumi-ink trees…surely this group loves trees!

Art Prescription: Excerpt from Mary Oliver’s poem “The Journey.”

But little by little,

as you left their voices behind,

the stars began to burn

through the sheets of clouds,

and there was a new voice

which you slowly

recognized as your own,

(Thanks for sharing Dr. Evans)
