Liebster Award

Someone who copyrights their work, Aaron Burrow and Mild Musings from a Mediocre Man, 2013-2099, has got to be a forward thinker! Thanks Aaron for nominating me for The Liebster Award! I’m flattered. Fellow bloggers, grab your beverage of choice and take some time to read some of Aaron’s thought provoking works http://el34ax7.wordpress.com/

This does take some time…but I found it fun and intriguing!!

liebster-award
The Liebster Award is very unique in the fact it brings recognition to the smaller blogs of the ‘verse. With that in mind, all of the nominated blogs will have under 200 followers.

The rules:

1. Thank the Liebster Blog presenter who nominated you and link back to their blog.

2. Post 11 facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions you were asked and create 11 questions for your nominees.

3. Nominate 11 blogs who you feel deserve to be noticed and leave a comment on their blog letting them know they have been chosen.

4. Display the Liebster Award logo.

5. No tag back thingys (I don’t know what these are).

11 facts about myself:

1. I love waking in the middle of the night, checking the clock, and relishing in hours left to snuggle in bed.

2. I prefer the woods to a mall any day.

3. I’m obsessed with art.

4. I have three cats!! and adore watching their every move.

5. I don’t wear high heals, see # 2.

6. I love to work in the garden and am often found there digging and/or painting.

7. Cooking healthy yummy meals made from local farmers brings me joy.

8. When alone, I’m seldom lonely.

9. I’m a nurse and an artist and my quest in life is to blend these via my blog and workshops to share how creativity promotes wellness. I also have a certificate in botanical illustration. I did my thesis in graduate school on “Poetry as Therapy.” Art and writing are ways for me to process, cope, and learn about life.

10. I find simplicity keeps life balanced.

11. I have a smart, motivated, loving, thoughtful, nice on the eyes (wink), sweet life partner, Sam! Married 21 years.

Here are the questions from Aaron:

1. Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light?

Yes, but these days prefer owls in the pale moon light.
2. If so, to what song? If not, what are you waiting for?

The Cars: Heartbeat City

3. Why did you start writing?

Writing has always been a tool for me to somehow grasp life that seems to be moving too fast. Through writing and art I think I’m making some permanent mark just in case I miss something!
4. Who is your favorite writer and a brief “Why?”

Emily Dickinson. Her words cross time.
5. Where do you write? The bed? The bath? The beyond?

I journal with pen and a simple spiral notebook nightly. Write on my iphone when a haiku comes to me. Try and have a sketchbook with me often, especially when hiking.
6. What is your favourite work of art?

Love Edith Holden’s nature illustrations in “The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady.” My dream is to write and illustrate a book like this which is filled with poetry and seasonal observations of the natural world.
7. Cake or death?

Cake! Chocolate works fine.
8. What is the tastiest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Drunken noodles in New York.
9. What is a question that you’ve always wanted answered?

What if there was no such thing as money?
10. In which period of human history would you most like to live?

Late 1800’s early 1900’s.
11. Amadeus: best movie ever? or greatest movie ever?

Enjoyable.

Now, for the questions from Hannah:

How would you describe your blog/s?: I would describe my blog as boring. I hope there are a few poems that folks will like and engage with, but there’s little else here other than my silly words.
What would you do if you won the lottery tomorrow? Travel. I’d go straight back to Japan, find a small farm close to some mountains and grow my own food. There, I would write, play music, and drink wine.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? “If it’s not yours, don’t touch it.”
What was the last book you read? “The Souls of Black Folk” by W.E.B. Du Bois
Do you prefer the sun or snow? Definitely snow. The sun can DIAF.
Have you ever had a bone broken? Two. My elbow broke in 1st grade from falling off of the monkey bars and my right pinky from a fight in 8th grade.
Do you have any pets? There are two rabbits that live with me. They’re more friends and confidants than pets, though. :)
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? I know, redundant, but in Japan. It’s the only place I’ve felt at home and at peace.
If you could be friends with a celebrity, who would it be? Neil DeGrasse Tyson. He’s just so awesome.
What is your favorite pastime? Playing music. There’s no other time that I feel more connected to another human than when we share a rhythm.
Where do you aspire to be five years from now? I hope to be living in Japan, teaching ESL, playing music, and writing from a home that is close to nature.

Now, my 11 questions for those whom I nominate:
