Winter Day February 7, 2016

Winter DayCold, brisk, winter day

Mason Farm still, quiet, brown

Spring rumbles beneath.

Art Prescription:  Such a gray winter day. Walking our favorite place, Mason Farm, and knowing that weeks from now many things will be stirring and rising from the ground.

Found Poetry February 6, 2016

Warm and inviting

Knowing that this is my place,

What I’ve created.

Art Prescription:  Spent most of my day at the farm riding Finn. Went with found poetry for my haiku and art…a little random print from a magazine. Try it! Just open up to any page and see what words jump out at you.

Graze February 5, 2016

Like spaghetti strands

Horses eat steady supply

Of hay to keep warm.

Art Prescription:  My horse is so well cared for during these cold winter nights. He gets lots of hay to keep his metabolism going, which is how horses stay warm. Night, night, Finn…

Dignity February 4, 2016

Dry brittle beauty

Contains dignity in form

Remains of summer.

Art Prescription:  Whew!! busy day. Up before the sun, went to feed/love on neighbor’s cat, fed my three, off to work, three surgeries, off to farm to do evening chores, 4 1/4 bales of hay and 4 clean troughs later, back home to feed/love neighbor’s kitty and my three, shower…not much time for art, except a quick sketch. Happy to have horses and cats in my life!!
