The wonders of rain.

She Let Go February 1, 2016
Onto the canvas
No hesitation or doubt
She let go of fear.
Art Prescription: This could be a start or a finish. I’ll sleep on it…

Hint of Spring January 31, 2016
Sixty-six degrees
Winter of discontent gone
For a hint of spring.
Art Prescription: Painting in my studio with the door wide open makes my soul fly high.
Mixed-media on paper:

Melting Snow January 30, 2016
Birds bathe, babbling creek
Preen in warm winter sunshine
Melting snow runs south.
Art Prescription: Walked Mason Farm with my love today. There are still patches of snow on the ground, but the birds don’t mind. They hop about energetically on a brisk January day.
Index card with colored pencil, fabric, and improvisational sewing:

Solitude January 29, 2016
Sit, listen, and wait
Be where you are, still, alone
The music will come.
Art Prescription: Most religions refer to stillness in the form of prayer or meditation. Deeply spiritual beings seem to truly practice this…the most of us are blundering our way towards the music. Listening!! And I did spend some wonderful moments on my horse’s bare back today. Connection!
Index card with colored pencil:

Who? January 28, 2016
All the world’s a stage
Theater for creation
The script? made with time.
Art Prescription: Who are you?
Index card with pen and ink:

Reassurance January 27, 2016
Bits of green and brown
Pop up from under the snow
Spring’s reassurance.
Art Prescription: Oh yes we need a little sunshine…need a little horse time…need a little spring-time…You know the tune…
Watercolor and pen and ink:

Bulbs January 26, 2016
Crocus in a pot
Indoor blooms while gardens rest
Color in kitchen.
Art Prescription: Collage and colored pencil.

Stitches January 25, 2016
Stretched across the room
My grandmother’s quilt rack, work
In progress by stitch.
Art Prescription: I remember going to my grandmother’s and there being a huge quilt in progress taking up the whole living area. She and her sister worked on this by hand, stitch by stitch. I’m the lucky owner of some of these heirloom quilts. They are works of art.
Watercolor and stitching 8 1/2 x 11

Snow Hikes January 24, 2016
Crunch under my boot
Long snow hikes in the mild woods
Creek weaves back and forth.
Art Prescription: We have enjoyed the snow and our long hikes.
