Open studio
Chance to share the world I see
Joys found with color.
Art Prescription: Cleaning my studio to open to the public November 21st. I always find bits and pieces of projects started and abandoned, things I love and say, “wow I should do more of this,” and things I go, “what was I thinking.” Creativity is a ride…steep hills, curves, and long stretches of pure bliss.
Index card with colored pencil:
Turn on Pasture Road
I leave the world behind now
To be with horses.
Art Prescription: Today was the last day of my Women’s Intuitive Riding class for the semester. We ended with a “rodeo style” barrel race and obstacle course. It was great fun, and shows me how much more I need to learn! Riding horses is a mental and physical challenge. I figure I’m on the steep end of the learning curve in all arenas. And that’s what makes it all the more special…it’s the journey of life.
Index card with sumi-ink and colored pencil:
Smell of a wood-fire
Rain soaked leaves land in puddles
Umbrella in hand.
Art Prescription: Okay so the weather doesn’t usually get me down…but I’m so sick of rain I could scream!!! Okay there! So I picked out a stamp with some lovely pink flowers for today’s Art Prescription. Because like me you might could use a little tropical inspiration.
Index card with colored pencil:
Field of thistle seed
A flock of Goldfinches perch
On nature’s feeder.
Art Prescription: Mason Farm!
Index card with colored pencil:
Dirty fingernails
Weeding and pulling, planting
Bed of fall pansies.
Art Prescription: Getting my hands into the dirt…yep…it’s all that.
Index card with colored pencil:
Noisy band of geese
Flew over the distant woods
Wings flapping the air.
Art Prescription: Rode Finn bare-back today! Oh yes, sauna after…that folks is a work-out! Always beautiful moments at the farm. This morning a huge flock of geese flew over. For a few moments all you could hear was the gaggle of them telling each other which way to go. I wish someone would tell me which way to go…
Art Journal with collage, pen and ink, and colored pencil…
A sole butterfly
Flaps her golden yellow wings
Over rain puddles.
Art Prescription: Alas the butterflies are few…fall beauty is plentiful. Time to switch gears a bit.
Index card with colored pencil:
Anniversary
Accomplishments, accolades
Like peanut butter.
Art Prescription: Twenty-four years ago I walked down the aisle to join my best friend in marriage.
Peanut butter cookies!
As the trees shed leaves
So begins winter season
Birds sing renewal.
Art Prescription: As we begin the season of Yin, going into the darker days, I have a sense of renewal. Cleaning the clutter from the year…preparing for the holidays and my open studio.
Index card with Sumi-ink:
The ghosts and goblins
Roam the earth for tricks and treats
Clocks fall back an hour.
Art Prescription: We had fewer than usual trick or treaters last night. We sat on the front porch with a fire.
