Leaves crunch under foot

Scent of the earth fills my nose

A gem with each step.

Art Prescription: The wildflowers on the trails are abundant.

Hyacinths in snow

Delicate blooms float above

A blanket of white.

Art Prescription: A pretty spring snow. We don’t often see spring flowers with a snow back-drop here in NC.

Rain spat most of day

Horses fed, boot sucking mud

Home to this cuddle.

A thin purple flame

Burns out in warm winter fire

Forsythia blooms.

Art Prescription: It’s all give and take.

Watercolor:

Children’s joyful laugh

They paint purely with their heart

And know when it’s done.

Art Prescription: You can suggest more leaves, or more color, but kids know when their piece is done. “No it doesn’t need more leaves.” How can you argue with this kind of knowing?

Don’t put your coat up

Not time to fan the heat yet

Winter’s not over.

Art Prescription: Cold rainy March days seep through to my bones.

Must we move forward

Away from the simple, real

Where you can smell grass.

Art Prescription: Time away from the computer. I’m worried about our future, children who don’t touch the ground, know what grass smells like.
